Enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains and meadows, experience the peace and tranquility, the expansive views, and come together as a family in a transformative and supportive environment. Tara Mandala will be hosting a Family Day on Saturday, July 8, 2023.  Families will spend time together walking trails, learning about meditation, Buddhism, and the practice of Council. Parents and children will co-create a beautiful family culture, learning ways to communicate, meditate, and relax. This day is free and open to all families, vegetarian and kid-friendly lunch and snacks are included.

During this special event, you will have the opportunity to:

• Hike on scenic trails and view the local wildlife (we usually see flocks of wild turkeys, herds of wild horses, migratory birds, deer, elk, bunnies, and more)
• Meditate in nature or at the Tara Temple.
• Learn about the teachings of Buddhism.
• Learn the ancient practice of Council and how to use it as a family to communicate, listen and share.
• Participate in activities such as herb harvesting and prayer flag hanging.

This special day is open to families of all backgrounds and faiths who want to deepen their connection with themselves, each other and the environment. Explore the sacred sites, absorb the stunning views, and make memories together.

How to Prepare: 

A vegetarian lunch will be provided. If you have special dietary restrictions, please feel free to bring your lunch with you and we will be happy to refrigerate any items during your visit. 

We encourage you to bring:

• Refillable water bottles
• Snacks
• Sunscreen/sun protective hats & clothing  
• Walking shoes and outdoor-ready clothing
• Insect repellent

Please note that we are not able to welcome your dogs (or other pets) on the land. 

Schedule 

Please plan to arrive at 9:30 am. All visitors must sign in at the Community Building. Orientation will begin promptly at 10:00 am. Our bookstore will be open during your visit. We look forward to welcoming you to Tara Mandala!

9:30am: Check-In
10:00am – 1:00pm: Stupa and Walking Guided Tour to Prayer Flag Ridge
1:00pm –  2:00 pm: Lunch
2:15pm –  4:30pm: Temple Tour, family-oriented meditation session
4:30pm –  5:00pm: Program concludes

• This program is open to all. Please note that registration for this event closes on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:00am MDT.
