Are You With Me? A Virtual Dharma Talk

With Lopön Karla Jackson-Brewer, M.S.

January 18, 2021

Join Karla Jackson-Brewer for a Dharma talk centered on social justice and racial equity in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday celebration.  The voices of revolutionary activists from African diasporic communities, who challenged the limitations of structural oppression, will be presented. Karla challenges us to push through our fear, anger and difficult emotions in order to bring about true transformation within ourselves, and to commit to making change in the outside world.

Karla will offer this Dharma Talk via Zoom on Monday, January 18 from 3:30pm – 5:00pm Mountain Time.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Tara Mandala

In the Fall of 2015, Tara Mandala established the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Council to address issues of underrepresentation of people from different cultural, racial, sexual orientation, and social backgrounds in the Dharma and at Tara Mandala.

Tara Mandala continues to work creating an environment where the richness of diverse perspectives, backgrounds and life experiences are appreciated and welcomed. We support the expression and experience of cultural literacy. We offer training to our staff, teachers, participants, and our broader sangha with resources that strengthen the cultural literacy of our community at large. We challenge our community to look inward and deeply at their own lives and unconscious compliance in a system of race-based oppression that has been part of our history from the beginning. We believe strongly that we must learn from our history. To learn more about the work of the EDI Council and Tara Mandala, click here.

$10 – Minimum Donation  (includes access to a downloadable audio recording of the talk)

Any additional contribution above the suggested donation will allow Tara Mandala Retreat Center to continue to operate, be a repository for wisdom literature, a center for translation, a beacon for the feminine in Buddhism, and an active Dharma center that provides refuge for deep practice and transformation. If you are able to provide a generous contribution, you will also have the opportunity to do so in your registration and/or during the retreat.

There are many ways to support and engage with Tara Mandala’s activities. Click here to learn more. We appreciate your support and generosity!

If you would like to offer Dana to Karla, the information to do so will be provided during the talk.
