We are excited to share the upcoming virtual retreat offered by Erik Jampa Andersson, Nurturing the Unseen: Buddhism and the More-than-Human World (A Winter Solstice Celebration), on December 16 – 18.
Erik Jampa Andersson is a practitioner and instructor of Sowa Rigpa (Traditional Tibetan Medicine) and the Yuthok Nyingthik. He is a graduate of the Shang Shung Institute of Tibetan Medicine, where he received a comprehensive training in the Four Tantras (rGyud bZhi) of Tibetan Medicine, and is currently completing an MA in History at Goldsmiths University in London, focusing on the transmission of medicine along the Silk Roads and Environmental History. His first book, Unseen Beings, will be released by Hay House in Spring of 2023.
A long-time member of the Tara Mandala community, Erik first came to Tara Mandala as a young teenager in search of a teacher, with an inexplicable passion for Tibetan Buddhism. He’s been a student of Lama Tsultrim’s ever since, with 17 years of deep engagement with the Dharma and its many interwoven fields of knowledge.
After beginning a religious studies degree at Naropa University, Erik decided to follow his dream of becoming a Tibetan doctor and enrolled in Tibetan Medicine school. After completing his theoretical training, he travelled to Nepal to complete a five-month clinical internship under Dr. Nyima Tsering and other senior physicians in the Kathmandu valley. Over the years, he has been fortunate to receive a great deal of additional training in Sowa Rigpa, the Yuthok Nyingthig (the spiritual tradition associated with Tibetan Medicine), and related studies from Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, and is an authorized teacher for Sorig Khang International.
