Ösel Dorje’s root teacher is Adzom Paylo Rinpoche, under whose guidance he has done his retreats. He is particularly fond of the practice of ngöndro (the foundational practices) and he is also enthusiastic about Tibetan Buddhist history, biographies of realized yogis and yoginis, the Tibetan language and epistemology.
From his own personal retreat practice, Ösel Dorje has gained a strong appreciation for the importance of developing a deep understanding of the philosophical side of Buddhist study, while bringing it to life through meditation experience.
Recently he completed a 108 charnel ground Chod pilgrimage in Ladakh as a wandering yogi. He is currently studying Buddhist philosophy in the Masters program at Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Kathmandu, Nepal.
