Chöd: Cutting through Ego-clinging
Chöd is a powerful practice for these difficult times, working in a direct way to cut through ego-clinging. Chöd has been called “the totality of all the teachings.” It brings a direct confrontation with self-clinging through the body offering. Chöd offers a method for working with the four maras. It is a unique blend of the ancient Tibetan Shamanic tradition and the Buddhist principles of compassion and emptiness, with roots in the Prajnaparamita teachings and the Pacification of Suffering from Phadampa Sangye. This centuries-old practice is sung, accompanied by a traditional chöd drum and bell. This particular Chöd comes through the lineage of Chogyel Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche and was given to him in a dream. It is particularly suitable for Western practitioners. Required materials: Chöd drum and bell. The kangling (thigh bone trumpet) is optional.
