The Great Mother Prajña Paramita & Sky-like Mind This retreat will explore the nature of mind. The experience of prajña, the capacity to perceive the ineffable vastness of basic space, is what gives birth to all the Buddhas. This vast clarity, full of compassion, is the Great Mother. Through meditation and relaxed dialogue we will explore this theme experientially. |
Feeding Your Demons Weekend Retreat Within the ancient teachings of Tibetan Buddhism lies a method for facing—and dissolving—our fears, illnesses, and emotional stumbling blocks. In this retreat, we will explore a practical application of this revolutionary, loving approach developed by the legendary Tibetan yogini, Machig Labdrön, almost a thousand years ago. You will learn an experiential five-step process to help you meet and release what the Tibetans call “demons” — the longings, fears, obsessions, illnesses, and attachments that we battle every day. We will explore how our inner and outer demons can be seen, nurtured, and transformed into allies and, through this process, foster compassion and love in place of animosity and fear. |
Kapala Training Level I Deeply explore the practice lineage of eleventh-century Tibetan yogini Machig Labdrön and the related Mahayana teachings of prajña paramita, or “the great mother”—our own true nature. Ideal for individuals wishing to work deeply with their “demons” through contemplative practice, this retreat offers a simple yet profound five-step method based on Machig Labdrön’s understanding that it is through nurturing—not fighting—our inner demons that we finally overcome them. In this way, we go beyond dualistic struggles, engaging our addictions, illnesses, fears, difficult relationships, self-hatred, and collective ills with compassion and wisdom. We will particularly focus on open-eyed sky-gazingprajña paramita practice, mixing awareness with space; licensed health professionals will learn to apply this work to their professional practices. Whatever you’re struggling with, this therapeutic process will transform your relationship with your demons and end the fight once and for all. |
Upcoming Teleteaching with Lama Tsultrim on March 28, 2010 Tara Mandala is pleased to offer a Teleteaching on Sunday, March 28th, with Lama Tsultrim. Teleteachings are a way for our global Sangha to connect and feel closer between retreats. The Teleteachings are very low-tech process that anyone with a phone can participate in. You may also listen to it on Skype, if you’d like (although there is NO video feed). Participants (US and International) will call in using the long-distance carrier of their choice. You will simply dial the number and enter the conference call code, which you will be sent after you RSVP. This is a live call. During the call, Lama Tsultrim will speak to your questions received the week before. The topic of the Teleteachings will be determined by the questions that participants send in beforehand. Please e-mail your questions or topics when you RSVP (see below). Please know that Lama Tsultrim will do her best to respond to all questions, but it may not always be possible. However, she often weaves several responses together during the Teleteachings and will do her best to respond to all questions. Please include any practice-related questions you might have. Date: Sunday, March 28, 2010 To calculate your local time, please see: How to Participate: Please include any practice-related questions you might have or topics you would like Lama Tsultrim to address. We ask that you refrain from asking questions about practices that require transmission (like Chöd or Prajna Paramita) since not everyone on the call will have had these transmissions. The Mandala of the Enlightened Feminine The Mandala of the Enlightened Feminine creates a sacred geography within the psyche, which uses embodiment as a means for transformation. The Mandala has as its basic structure, a center and four directions, which are represented by the five 'dakinis': five energies, directions, colors, seed syllables, emotions, psychological types, and most importantly five wisdoms. We will experience through meditation with colors, sound, the elements, and wisdom dakinis, how to use our human emotions of anger, pride, craving, ambition, and dullness as the seeds for transformation. |
